Abstract— The paper focus on the integration of arts with mathematics in education in the lower grades of primary school. Art education has the aim to teach students to develop their visual imaginative abilities by using their experiences of reality and visualizing these experiences. Art when integrated with mathematics seamlessly becomes the medium of teaching learning process and different concepts can be easily grasped in a joyful manner. Students in school where arts are an integral programme of an academic programme tend to have an academic advantage over students for whom that is not the case. This study enables teachers to develop understanding of art appreciation in the context of school education. Moreover, integrating maths with arts meets the need of diverse learning styles and multiple intelligences. Lastly, the pleasant effects of artistic experiences may help kids to enjoy maths more or to alleviate maths anxiety. It is the hope of this research to show new and experienced teachers the perceived benefits of an arts-based mathematics program on student achievement and engagement in mathematics. Additionally, this research strives to provide educators with tools and an introductory framework for implementing an arts-based approach to mathematics in their classroom.
